How we met
For as long as we have been alive we have always heard the question asked of couples, "How did you meet?". Now we get to tell the story ourselves.
Crystal lived in Rochester, New York. Her main desire in life isn't the pursuit of a wonderful career in teaching; although she loves to teach, nor is her main desire in life to be married and raise a family; although she'd very much like to do so. Crystal's desire in life is to serve, follow and worship the God who created her, the God who loved her and the God who gave Himself for her.
Randy lived in New York City. Although he is a computer programmer, entrepreneur and systems engineer by trade his main pursuit in life is neither of those things. How incredibly foolish it would be to live for a life and a world that is quickly perishing and will soon be no more. His desire in life also is to live for the God who loved him and gave Himself for him, a God who has an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for him. (1 Peter 1:4)
With that in mind Crystal and I could never be content simply marrying someone who was just physically attractive, shared the same material goals or who by the worlds standards was nice, sweet, fun, went to church and just- got along. There needed to be something much more than physical attraction and materialistic goals. We both wanted to live for the living God who created and formed us. The bible says if someone is not literally a slave of God they are slaves of Sin (Romans 6:16-18) and if someone is literally not zealous for Christ they are an enemy of Him. (Luke 11:23) These things we were in the past. (Eph 2:1-3) After-all He died for all so that those who live should live no longer for themselves but for Him who died for them and rose again. (2 Cor 5:15) If our lives were to be dedicated to the pursuit of God in marriage we both needed to share this same passion personally as well.
Unfortunately the Bible says those who share this passion are few. “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it." (Matthew 7:13-14) It says, "There is a way that seems right to man but its end is the way of death" (Prov 14:12).
As singles, we both knew it would be hard, if not impossible to find someone who followed this living God... So we seeked something else instead... we waited... “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you." (Matthew 6:31-33)... and sometimes we grew impatient... but we seeked first the kingdom of God and waited...
In October of 2007 Randy was sent by his job to a conference in Rochester, NY. He had been pulled over and given a speeding ticket only miles away and as a result needed to come back to take care of the ticket in court. In January of 2008 he returned with his friend John and stayed at a couple's house, Russ and Anne, who attended Koinonia Fellowship. It was there that God providentially brought them together. Randy and Crystal met, and found out that their passion for the King of Kings was shared.
They were married September 12, 2008.
I just can't wait to see Randy DANCE!!!!!
Hey Randy, can you... Boogie oogie oogie.
I can't wait to see it, too!
Crystal, I just want you to know how truly blessed I am to be a part of your wedding. You have been such a great friend. The Lord definately placed you in my life to help me grow in him and keep on the straight and narrow path. Your faithfulness to wait on God and not compromise has strengthened me. Thanks for always being there for me and being a truly faithful friend.
Randy, I had such a great time in NYC with you, Crystal and Britt. Thanks for the time you spent showing us around. It was great to get to know you and your family. Britt was very blessed as well. We've both been craving bubble tea.
Love you both!!
Glad to see your registries are up....you can tell a lot about a couple just by looking at them!
I love the fact that Crystal (or you) added Elisabeth Elliot's "Let Me Be A Woman" to the list. I read that book while still living in Brooklyn and it has since become one of my favorite books to recommend to woman especially those who are engaged. I've purchased sooo many copies of that book for friends and I would love to send it to Crystal so she can read it before you two unite in marriage. Is there an address I can send it to???
I am still amazed everytime I think about how we met and how fast everything has fallen into place! The Lord is so GOOD! THANK YOU to all who have prayed for Randy and I over the years. It's amazing to see the fruit of those prayers. The Lord has blessed me with an amazing, Godly man!
Randy... I LOVE YOU and can't wait to be your wife!
Psalm 72:18 "Blessed be the LORD God... who only does wondrous things."
haha, that's an amazing story! it was great to see you today bro, thanks for sharing this site. I pray that the Lord Jesus will always be at the center of your relationship!
Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.
Mark 10:9
Randy and Crystal... we are so excited for you both and all that the Lord has planned in His divine sovereignty. Randy, we have been praying for this day, and what a glorious thing that He has brought it to pass... in giving you the precious gift of a beloved bride. Why didn't you meet her before we moved so that we could have gotten to know her too!!! You'll just have to bring her on down to Kansas... and then you can move here too!
Randy, to marry you, she MUST be one of the MOST precious daughters of the King! We cannot wait to meet you Crystal! You have one treasure in this wonderful brother!
Well, just thought I would stop by and leave my little footprint here to let you know that we love you both, that we are praying for you and that we cannot wait to see how the Lord will use you as one flesh to bring Him glory in this life... for the life to come!
To God be the glory for the great things He has done!
Ephesians 3:20 ... He is able to do exceeding abundant more than we can ask or think!
See you soon!
Love,
Megan... for Chris and Josiah
I am so proud of Randy for his love for God and for being faithful to His will.
He did not follow the ways of the world and continues to lead by example in the ways of Christ.
Trusting in the Holy Spirit for a Bride and the Lord blessed him greatly with a beautiful, humble and godly woman… Crystal.
To Randy & Crystal,
Your wedding day is only the beginning of the joyful times you’ll discover as Husband & Wife, one flesh in Christ Jesus. May God bless you both and may He keep you.
"The LORD bless you and keep you; The LORD make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you; The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace."'
Numbers 6:24-26
P.S. Be sure that I get a piece of that wedding cake.

My goodness! Randy, you're getting married!!!! I'm so excited for you and can't wait to hear how God is going to use you both as a couple. I guess you could probably say "our ways are not His ways (Isaiah 55:8-9)" would be a key verse to your relationship....I think it's incredible how you both met under such craaaaazy circumstances (Randy, ease up on the gas). God is so good! Crystal, I have yet to meet you and hope to one day, but can only imagine that you are one AMAZING woman to be marrying Randy. Best wishes and happy wedding planning!
